Less water, less fuss
Every plant in our catalog is suited to the blackland prairie and post oak savannah — the soil and weather you actually have. Native plants sink deeper roots, need less water once they're established, and feed the pollinators and birds that live here year round.
We grow a great deal of what we sell in Trenton, and we work with growers we trust to widen the range. Every plant meets the same bar before it reaches the bench.

A small nursery on the edge of the blackland prairie
Natural Hills Farm sits in Trenton, Texas, where the blackland prairie starts giving way to post oak savannah. We started with native plants because so much of what gets sold as landscape material isn't built for this ground — heavy clay, long dry stretches, and heat that runs from May into October.
We propagate a great deal of what we sell right here, and we work with wholesale growers we trust to widen what we can offer. Either way the standard is the same: proven in our soil and heat, healthy roots, and no invasive species, ever.
Our standards
We collect seed and take cuttings from regional stock wherever we can, so the plants carry genetics adapted to North Texas. Plants are grown outdoors, hardened off naturally, and sold when they're rooted and ready — not forced into bloom for a sales floor. We reject weak stock rather than move it.
What we don't do
We don't ship, and we don't carry annual color or anything that needs constant water to survive here. No invasive species, ever. If a plant can't make it through a Texas August with reasonable care, we don't sell it.
Open by appointment
We're a working nursery, not a storefront, so we set a time rather than keeping fixed hours. That way someone is always free to walk the rows with you and help match plants to your spot.
