FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How visiting, buying, and pickup work at the nursery. If your question isn't here, call or text 903-486-7696 or send a note.

Visiting

Do I need an appointment to visit?

Not on Saturdays or Sundays — we’re open Saturday 9am–4pm and Sunday 12pm–4pm, no appointment needed, just walk in. Monday through Friday we’re a working nursery rather than a storefront, so weekday visits are by appointment, usually in the evening: call or text 903-486-7696, or send a note through the contact page. Most visits are set within a day or two.

Where are you located?

2464 County Road 4620, Trenton, TX 75490, off Highway 69. Open Saturdays 9am–4pm and Sundays 12pm–4pm — just come by. Monday through Friday, call or text ahead and we’ll set a time, usually in the evening.

Can I bring my dog?

We ask that you leave pets at home. Service dogs are always welcome.

Buying & payment

How can I pay?

Cash or card, paid on site when you pick up.

Do your prices and stock change?

Yes. Each plant's page shows current sizes, prices, and stock, updated daily. Plants can sell between updates, which is why we confirm every pickup request before setting plants aside. Sales are posted on the plant list and on our Facebook page.

Do you offer wholesale or landscaper pricing?

We don't have a set wholesale price list yet, but we're glad to work with anyone buying in bulk — get in touch and we'll figure out pricing together.

Orders & pickup

How do online pickup requests work?

Add plants to your order on any plant page, pick a day and time, and send the request. Nothing is charged online. We'll call, text, or email within 24 hours to confirm what's available and your pickup time, then hold your plants. Weekend pickups fit our regular open hours; weekday pickups are evenings, by appointment. Pay with cash or card when you arrive.

Can you hold plants for me?

Yes. The easiest way is a pickup request: add plants from any plant page and send the request from your order page. We'll confirm availability and your pickup time within 24 hours. Once confirmed, your plants are set aside and held until 24 hours after your pickup time. You can also call or text 903-486-7696 and we'll set things aside the same way.

Do you ship plants?

No. Everything is pickup at the farm in Trenton — we don't ship.

Can you grow a specific plant for me?

Sometimes. If there's something you want that we don't currently have, ask — we may be able to grow it or source it from a grower we trust.

Can you take special orders?

Yes. If you're looking for something we don't carry, or more than we have in stock, we can place a special order for you. Special orders require a 50% deposit, which becomes nonrefundable once we've committed to sourcing your plants. The remaining balance is due when you pick up your order. Availability and estimated arrival dates depend on what our growers have on hand.

Plants & advice

Are all your plants native to Texas?

Most are Texas natives chosen for the blackland prairie and post oak savannah — the soil and weather Northeast Texas actually has. A few well-adapted non-natives are in the mix, and each one is labeled on its plant page..

Will you help me choose plants for my yard?

Yes! Bring photos, a sense of the light your spot gets, the type of soil you have, and we'll walk the rows and match plants to it. If you want to go a step further and have us actually design a layout for your property, we offer that as well.

Do you guarantee your plants?

Every plant leaves the farm healthy and well-rooted. Success after that depends a lot on the site and care it gets, so we don't offer a blanket replacement guarantee — but reach out at the first sign of trouble. We'd rather help you troubleshoot early and get it thriving than have you lose the plant.

What size are the plants?

Most are in gallon pots, with some in smaller or larger containers. Each plant's page lists the sizes and prices in stock right now.

What are the best native plants for North Texas clay soil?

Plants that evolved in blackland prairie and post oak savannah soils handle heavy clay well, with natives like Little Bluestem, Turk's Cap, Black-eyed Susan, and Compass Plant as good starting points. Check each plant's page for soil requirements, or ask us when you visit and we'll match plants to your yard.

What native plants attract hummingbirds and butterflies in North Texas?

Turk's Cap, Flame Acanthus, Esperanza, and Salvia are reliable hummingbird favorites. Milkweed is essential for monarch butterflies as their host plant and mistflower is always a butterfly favorite. Many of our other natives support pollinators too, so look for the pollinator and hummingbird tags on each plant's page or stop by and let us help you pick something that fits into your exact space.

When should I plant Texas natives?

Fall and early spring are the best windows, since cooler weather lets roots establish before summer heat arrives. Many natives can go in through the cooler months here in North Texas, so check each plant's page for specific planting-month guidance.

About the farm

Do you grow the plants yourselves?

We grow a great deal of what we sell right here in Trenton, and we work with growers we trust to widen the range. Our #1 goal is to make sure our customers have top quality plants to give them the highest chance of success.

How do I hear about new plants and sales?

They go up on our Facebook page first — new arrivals, sales, and what's coming ready that week.

Why native plants?

Native plants are suited to the soil and weather you already have. They sink deeper roots, need less water once established, and feed the pollinators and birds that live here year round.
